DJ, VJ şi MC

…sau “The Starry Night”, pictură a post-impresionistului Van Gogh ce reprezintă priveliştea de la fereastra camerei sale din sanatoriu din Saint Remy.

Unde vreau să ajung cu postul ăsta? Păi vreau să abordez categoria de posturi propusă de DJ, şi anume “pictura-n muzică”, iar conexiunea o vom face între doi oameni fără vreo legătură aparentă şi, bineînţeles, între operele lor.

Ce poate să lege cele două opere create la aproape un secol distanţă? Ne explică chiar Don într-un interviu:

I was sitting on the veranda one morning, reading a biography of Van Gogh, and suddenly I knew I had to write a song arguing that he wasn’t crazy. He had an illness and so did his brother Theo. This makes it different, in my mind, to the garden variety of ‘crazy’ – because he was rejected by a woman [as was commonly thought]. So I sat down with a print of Starry Night and wrote the lyrics out on a paper bag. [1]

Trivia: În pământul de sub muzeul Van Gogh din Amsterdam se află o cutie cu pensule ale artistului şi o foaie cu versurile piesei “Vincent” a lui Don McLean şi, zilnic, piesa este pusă spre ascultare vizitatorilor muzeului.
